Du skal besvare følgende opgaver:
  • Opgave 1-4
  • Opgave 5A eller opgave 5B

5B – Non-fiction: “Teach girls bravery, not perfection”, a TED talk by Reshma Saujani, TED website, 2016.


Vejledning til opgaverne og skabelon
Den samlede eksaminationstid for opgave 1-5 er 5 timer. Besvarelsen bedømmes som en helhed ud fra de faglige mål for niveauet. Der lægges vægt på beherskelsen af det engelske sprog, forståelse af forlægget og færdighed i skriftlig fremstilling på engelsk.

Det anbefales, at du skriver din besvarelse i skabelonen, som ligger under Toolbox i menuen til venstre. Besvarelsen afleveres i ét dokument med opgaverne i rækkefølgen 1-5.

Hjælpemidler
Alle hjælpemidler må benyttes til besvarelse af opgavesættet. Kommunikation med omverdenen er ikke tilladt.

Opgave 3

And I’m not alone: so many women I talk to tell me that they gravitate towards careers and professions
that they know they’re going to be great in, that they know they’re going to be perfect in, and it’s no

wonder why. Most girls are taught to avoid risk and failure. We’re taught to smile pretty, play it safe, get all
A’s. Boys, on the other hand, are taught to play rough, swing high, crawl to the top of the monkey bars and
then just jump off headfirst. And by the time they’re adults, whether they’re negotiating a raise or even

asking someone out on a date, they’re habituated to take risk after risk. They’re rewarded for it. It’s often
said in Silicon Valley, no one even takes you seriously unless you’ve had two failed start-ups. In other
words, we’re raising our girls to be perfect, and we’re raising our boys to be brave.

Some people worry about our federal deficit, but I, I worry about our bravery deficit. Our economy, our
society, we’re just losing out because we’re not raising our girls to be brave. The bravery deficit is why
women are underrepresented in STEM, in C-suites, in boardrooms, in Congress, and pretty much

everywhere you look.

Write an analytical essay (800-1200 words) in which you analyse and interpret Helen Cooper’s short story “Pretending to Know the Words”.

Part of your essay must focus on the narrative technique and on the main theme.

In your essay you must include references to the short story. You may use information from the internet in your essay. All sources must be in English and must be documented.

Write an analytical essay (800-1200 words) in which you analyse Reshma Saujani’s TED talk “Teach girls bravery, not perfection” and discuss various ways to become successful.

Part of your essay must focus on how the speaker argues her case and on her persuasiveness.

In your essay you must include references to:
  • Reshma Saujani’s TED talk
  • 1-2 other internet sources
All sources must be in English and must be documented.
