Nedenstående sætninger er fra artiklen “‘So many ways to die in Syria now’: Neil Gaiman visits a refugee camp in Jordan”.
  1. Find og skriv fem forskellige eksempler på relative pronominer (henførende stedord) i sætningerne.

Where Azraq is a ghost city of white boxes in a flint and lava desert, Zaatari is an anarchic dusty city of tents and box-like people-containers, in which every streetlight is covered with a wild spaghetti-tangle of wires, stealing electricity to light people’s homes, charge their phones and power televisions.
  3. The crisis in Syria, the unrest that became a civil war that became a nightmare, created, as all wars have created since human beings started living in villages, refugees.
  4. I keep going, talking to the refugees, to the people who run the camps and care for the refugees, and then, after accompanying Ayman, a Syrian volunteer nurse on his rounds, as he changes the dressings on a youth whose foot was blown off by a landmine and an 11-year-old girl who lost half her jaw in a mortar attack that killed her father, I realise I can’t think straight.

Opgave 3

I nedenstående uddrag af novellen “The Recital” er nogle nægtende sætninger understreget. Forklar kort, hvorfor der er anvendt omskrivning med to do i den første sætning, men ikke i de øvrige tre sætninger. Brug grammatisk/faglig terminologi. Skriv dit svar på dansk.

Our father had taught us both – we’d compete for space next to him on the piano bench. I’d stare mesmerised at his hands, at the curly gold hairs on his wrists. And I was a hesitant player from the start. “Eyes up!” he would say. “Don’t overthink it. (1) Skip, skip, skip along.” Dad never hinted at Jen’s superiority, (2) and so made her determined to prove it, over and over.
It shouldn’t have surprised me (3) that she would shield her contacts jealously. “I’ll put in a good word for you,” she’d say, “if I get around to it.” Then, when I reminded her: “Jesus, I’m already putting you up – would you have a bit of patience?” Other times, over wine: “I’m just not sure (4) you’d suit the National Symphony Orchestra! All that rigid discipline? You’re a different sort of musician, Grace.”

Opgave 4

We watch the news about Syria and the situation is bleak. […] Conflict was forcing innocent people in love
with their country to abandon their homes and bleed, in their thousands, across its borders. How are they
3
able to cope with losing everything? How are the neighbouring countries expected to cope with the flood
of human beings overwhelming their infrastructure and their already scarce resources? […]
Spirits have been broken, homes wrecked, lives destroyed, and a generation of children traumatized.
6
But somehow, still, in amongst the horror and the nightmares, there are many small and glorious stories
of survival and hope, resilience and dignity. I have already shared many of them with you, but there are
more to tell. I’m sharing them in order to build a connection between the people I have met – Ayman,
9
Ibrahim, Um Murad and the rest – and with you. Yes, you. I’m asking, on their behalf and UNHCR’s, for help,
because if you could have the conversations that we had, if only you could sit and speak to the refugees,
face to face, you would see that we really are the same, that we really are part of one family. And, at its
12
best, a family does all it can to support each other.

Thank you
